Fall Festival

The day started off with a bit of chill but it wasn’t long until the sun warmed things up nicely.  Today we took the grand kids to the Fall Festival here in town.

Of course their first choice is to head straight to the petting zoo.  We got some pet food.

The cow, sheep and goat were getting lots of attention so we did feed them long, the poor Llama wanted attention too so the kids decided to move to him/her fast.

they also had pony rides but they were not interested and since their dad takes them riding that wasn’t a big deal for them. 

next we went into the old time days barn and toured it

the kids enjoyed seeing some of the things that are ancestors used .. Toby was fascinated by the old buggy, sled and esp this car that had a picture of the guy riding it.

After lots of walking and looking through the booth’s it was time to head to Wal-mart to stock up on junk food and then back home to spend some time playing.

It’s been a year!

This post is dedicated to 2 of my beloved Duke and Dixie.  It was a year ago today that you left us.  It has been a ruff year and there isn’t a day that goes by that I do not think of you.  You filled my heart with so much love and you are deeply missed.  RIP my precious babies.  Mama will always have a place in her heart for you.

 

Mexican Feast

Wow where has the time gone?  It’s been several weeks since I last posted!  I keep telling myself even though we are not on the road that I’m still going to try to post a few times a week on my blog, but let’s be honest!  It just hasn’t happened!!  Bad Pennie! 

Glenn treated us to a special lunch today.  A Mexican Feast!  Oh was it good, he made us home made Quesadillas!  He even had the music and per my request he seriated me with a beautiful Mexican song!  Thanks Glenn, the food was great and oh yeah, so was the singing. 

This summer we have spent pretty much most of time living in our home on wheels (for now) and our lives have mostly been enjoying the grand kids.  Although time with them has slowed down the past month since they have went back to school.  Mostly it’s weekend time with them now. 

Our winter plans are still to stay here in Illinois and help our son adjust to being a single parent.  His family is still in the adjustment period for everyone.  It’s great to see our son happy and smiling again He is slowly becoming the young man we raised him to be again.

Oh it’s hot!

It’s been one hot week!  The temps reached 99 yesterday!  Although these temps we’ve been having this week is even too hot for my liking .. I am not going to complain because I’d rather have the heat over the cold!  Although my MS does not like the heat my back does not like the cold.   I’d rather take the exhaustion and weakness over the severe pain the cold causes me.  So no complaining I’m just going to stay inside the AC as much as possible and enjoy the warmth!

This is one of the largest sunflowers I’ve seen .. It’s growing in hubby’s garden and it’s just beautiful!

I’ve not posted much as not really much going on in our lives since we are in the sit still and just basic day to day living.  I’ve been enjoying spending my time with family and friends and just relaxing in my lounger outside reading good romance books!  Although I have to admit this past week by mid morning I am forced back inside to the cool of my wonderful home on wheels.

What a life!

Our grand dog Bambi has been staying with us since our son Tyson has been too.  He is having vehicle  problems.

I spent my day doing laundry and hanging it out to dry.  My dryer is broke down again and I’m waiting for the part to arrive that is on back order .. tonight we had some needed rain .. although we got a down pour!  I’ve spent most of my evening in bed with neck, back and leg pain and since I couldn’t sleep and with the humidity levels lately I’ve been having neck, back and leg pain so sleep has been far and few in between so I decided to get my blog updated.  I’m hoping my med’s will kick in and sleep will arrive soon. 

Having health issues is not fun and being sleep deprived is no fun either .. but back and leg pain is the worst!  Most times I try to do and enjoy what I can in every day life but it’s horrible when you can not sleep.  There are days that a nap has to be apart of day esp when I go several nights of not sleeping.   A few nights ago I didn’t get to sleep until 5.30 am and was back up before 9 am!  4 hours of ZZZ is just not enough to run all day on.  Most nights I try to be in bed by 9 Pm but it takes me several hours to get to sleep due to my back and leg pain and then when my neck pain starts in .. it’s much worse.  I have to face the fact that spine is just deteriorating away on me and my future outlook is not good. But for now I am enjoying all that I can while I can.  I live hour by hour and am thankful for my good days and get through my bad days.  God has blessed me and for that I am thankful for the life am able to live.  I always tell myself that there are others out there with worse troubles then mine.

Okay I think it’s time to see if I can get some ZZZ’s .. It’s almost 3 AM!!!

the weather has been nice

We seem to go from hot to cool these days .. it was hot and now it’s been cooler and I’ve been sporting a jacket!  It feels like fall although I have to admit it’s wonderful weather to sit outside in my lounger and enjoying reading my books.  I have read several books this summer. 

not sure if this is a good sign or not but my sunflowers are starting to bloom and their going to be beautiful.  I’m sure the birds are going to enjoy them as much as I do!

hubby’s garden has finally taken off and we’ve been getting lots of cucumbers and I’ve put several zucchini and summer squash in the freezer for this winter.  Our tomatoes are late this year and we finally got our first one this past week.  We have lots of green ones but just one that has ripened enough.

There is a good thing to staying put in one place all summer long and that is hubby enjoys his garden.  He missed that part of not having a home that stays in one place .. yet we both yearn for the day when we can start moving around again.  Although we have made commitments to stick around for a year.  So it’s going to be awhile.
