Happy Veteran's Day

To all those who have lost loved one, served and

 Vetern's Day

without your service I would not have the freedom that i have to day.  I thank you for all that you have gave and may God Bless you all.

We got up and got ready for church.  Today we attended services at First Assembly in Alexandria, LA.  After church we headed out to eat some lunch at Piccadilly.  It’s different type place to eat as it’s like a cafeteria line and you tell them what you want and they fix your plate.  The food was great and reasonable.  For the 2 of us we ate for $11.53 cent plus tip.  We came out of Piccadilly’s and it was raining.  Just a drizzle so it’s going to be another lazy day.

With the rain setting in and you all know what rain does to me .. it was a good day to retire to bed for a nap.  I slept a few hours and then i got up and made some zucchini bars.  I have several bags that my friend Wanda (thanks Wanda it made some great bars!)

Dinner was just polish sausage as we had a heavy lunch.  Later Snuffy and Jean invited us to play cards.  Before we knew it, it was time to head home to surf the web and relax a bit before calling it a night.  I would like to close with this ….

A Lazy Day

I was awaken early this morning to a licking dog!  Roo had to go potty and when nudging doesn’t get you up, she licks you in the face.  Needless to say that got me up.  I may have been up but apparently i wasn’t awake as I hooked her on her collar and not her choke chain .. YESSS you guessed correct, when i went to put her back in .. there was no Roo, she was gone!!  I hurried to get dressed and woke hubby up and he got dressed and took the truck to look for her and i took the golf cart.  She must of heard the truck or my yelling because she came running to me.  Of course she was a sand ball and so that meant straight in to the shower!  Barely awake and moving i’m giving a dog a shower!  Once that was done she got scolded and she knew she was a bad dog cuz she puts her head down.

I decided it was going to be a lazy day for me because between the traveling, being busy and being woke up early i was exhausted which meant i was also grouchy and didn’t want to do anything.  I spent the day being lazy doing absolutely nothing. It’s an absolutely beautiful day with temp’s in the low 80’s.  It was a great day to have the door and window’s open as the humidity didn’t seem to bad and there was a nice breeze.  Later in the afternoon after lots of urging from the dogs, i took them on a walk.  While i was being lazy hubby worked on the satellite but with no avail, he finally gave up and i called to setup up an appointment with dish network, i do not have a happy hubby as they can not come until Thursday morning.  Several channels here just nothing on them on.

We went out to dinner at Fuzzies with Snuffy and Jean and had some wonderful fried catfish!  Oh it was so good!  NOOO .. no star sightings tonight :)  Then we came back and the guys finished working on their fire place and then we played a couple games of 13 and before we knew it, it was time to head to bed.

Cajun Pawn Stars

Twin Lakes Campground in Woodworth, LA

 008

We woke to temps being wonderful and the sun shining.  I found warmth!  I spent my morning getting my home setup.  We are going to be here about 6 weeks.  We are all nestled in .. were surrounded by pine trees.  Very nice setting.  Temps reached 77 degrees!

002

later in the morning Jean took me on her golf cart to tour a bit more of the place and to pick up a golf cart for me.  YESS, i will have a golf cart at my disposal to get around in .. very nice huh?

003

We snuck in to check on the guys and make sure they were not playing,  looks like they might be .. their taking the ceiling down to re-do it .. or they tearing things up?   Hmmmm … looks to me they are playing, hubby was pushing Snuffy around .. hang on Snuffy your taking life in the wrong hands!!

 005

Later we rode with Snuffy and Jean to meet David and Amy for dinner at Sombreros and man did i ever get a wonderful surprise!! How is this for great waiter service?  Wait that is no waiter .. that is  Cajun Pawn Stars Jimmie “Big Daddy” DeRamus of …..

Travel Day

We were up early to get an early start but we were held up by this.

013

Roo is learning well .. i think she gets as excited as the other dogs on travel day.

  015

First on the list after leaving our campsite was to stop and dump the tanks.

018

Leaving the camp ground was bitter sweet as we really enjoyed our stay here, yet were excited for our next adventure. 022

We were on the road by 8.40 AM

 023

luckily we didn’t run into any fog and all looked good

 024

until we saw this

025

We enjoyed the scenery and took our time on a beautiful sunny day

026

I thought this was pretty neat

027

we did hit a bit of traffic but not as bad as we’ve hit before

029

at Natchez we missed a turn and toured the business district .. we took our rig right by the court house!  I was a bit nervous as i wasn’t sure we’d get our rig through there.  But my husband did a great job and before we knew it we found our way back on track.

 030

We crossed the Mississippi river

032

We found some flat land in Louisiana

042

Over more water and after another little detour we arrived around 3.45 PM at our destination Woodworth, LA.  7 hours and 345 miles worth of traveling.  We plan to be here around 6 weeks.

044

Friends Snuffy and Jean were waiting for us and after we got setup, we cleaned up and took a tour around place.

 045

Snuffy took us 4 wheeling and we were having a great time until …. he forgot he didn’t have 4 wheel drive in his truck and YES your correct .. we were stuck and going to be late for our dinner invitation!

Luckily David is a great hostess and got us some help with a 4 wheel drive tractor that pulled us out.  We finally arrived and had a wonderful meal at David and Amy’s home, thanks David and Amy.  We played Chinese checkers after dinner at their house and had a great time visiting.  Before we knew it was after 9 PM and time to head home.

It’s been a long day but a wonderful day, it was time to say good night and head to dream world as i was exhausted!

A Blah Day

It’s a blah day .. we decided to do nothing but just lazy around.  When it’s cloudy out i become lazy and that is what today is with the sun hiding behind the clouds most of the day.  We decided today wasn’t a good day to travel so we paid up for another day, it looks as though tomorrow will be moving day.

I woke up around 7 AM!  It’s official my body is on it’s winter schedule. It wasn’t long after i was up the electric went off.  The camp host stopped by to tell us it wasn’t our camper the entire camp ground is without electric.  I decided it would be a good time to get some straightening up done and last night’s dinner dishes.

The sun tries to come out and then the clouds covers it up, the wind is blowing and to me it’s a bit on the nippy side.  We decided since were without power we’d take the dogs on a long walk.  We headed over to walk around one of the closed part of the park.  This is a beautiful park and i can imagine families having a blast here in the summer months.  It was lunch time when we returned and still no power.  It wasn’t long after lunch that the power came back on.  So i got our dirty laundry going.  Plus using the washer will put more water in our black tank to help with emptying tomorrow :)

After lunch we decided to take the dogs on a drive and we drove across the dam to Persimmon Hill campground.  They have a very nice paved walk trail around the wooded area.  The dogs love their walks and it was a beautiful walk about.  Unfortunately i forgot my camera :(  Would have been some great photo shots.  During our walk the wind picked up and the leaves were falling around us off the tree.  A reminder that winter is approaching and it’s time to move on to warmer climate.

Everyone was wore out after our walk and so we came home to take a nice little nap.  After dinner we took the dogs on one last walk about and then got things to ready to roll in the morning.  After i got my work done of cleaning up the dinner dishes,  putting up a few things and securing  a few cabinets.  The rest of the evening is being spent relaxing curled up in bed reading a good book.  YEP .. I’m on winter time zone.

We’ve enjoyed our time here at Wallace Creek and we hope to come back when it’s warmer!  If all goes well we should be in Alexandria, LA tomorrow night.  We will be there around 6 –7 weeks depending on the project.  On Monday we will be off of R & R and to work being servants for Jesus Christ.

Election Day, Enid, MS

We woke to a bit of a another nippy morning but it wasn’t long the sun came out and warmed up nicely.  I’m so thrilled that this day has arrived.  It’s Election day and i will be so glad that my phone ringing all the time to ask me questions about voting will be done with, filling my mail box with their political junk and especially my face book page being flooded with all the political garbage, It will soon be over with .. YESSSS  We voted a few weeks ago before we left Illinois.

001

This is the view out our window this morning.  What a ruff way to wake up enjoy a cup of tea (me) and coffee (for hubby)  We got up and got our morning started with our usual surfing the net and catching up on the morning news.  Then we headed to take the dogs on a morning walk around the camp ground.

 004

While we were outside enjoying the basking in the sun.  The camp host came over to welcome us.  We had nice visit and she even gave me a gift.  She makes wind chimes out of wine bottles.  The park is very well taken care of here.  The bathrooms are almost spot less and they are even heated.

018

I took this picture of our grill .. i love the concrete tables next to them.  How neat is that!  You have a table to use while cooking.  We are really impressed with this campground and we plan on returning again.  I could get into cooking outside with this setup.

 007

After lunch we talked about visiting the fish hatchery a few miles down the road and then we talked ourselves out of it and instead loaded the dogs up in the truck and took them to the dam to walk around where we visited yesterday.  It’s a beautiful place to walk and no one around.  The dogs absolutely loved it.  They loved sniffing and peeing all over their new surroundings.  When they got home they were exhausted.  Roo just couldn’t take it anymore she had to have a nap.

010

Since the sun was still shining and it was warm enough to be outside with just long sleeves We sat outside and enjoyed some more basking in the sun while reading.  I just had to take a picture of my view when i looked up.

005

If you look out our window at our dining table this is what you see. The camp sites are very spacious here.

008

This is what it looks like on our back side looking out the kitchen window.  We sat outside until the sun went down and then it was time for …

009

Hubby’s to start dinner.  It’s his turn to cook tonight as I cooked last night.  I was nice to him and thawed out some pork steaks i had frozen already cooked and He chose to fry potatoes and use up the left over gravy we had.  It was a tasty dinner.  By the time dinner was done it was dark outside we took the dogs on a nice evening stroll.  It’s a beautiful night not too hot and not too cold, it was a perfect night for a evening stroll and it would have been a perfect night for a fire if we had fire wood.

011

Needless to say when we got back the dogs were definitely ready for bed.

 016

I’m not far behind them, it’s going to be a nice hot shower and off to bed to read a bit and see if i can stay awake long enough to see who will be President.

Enid Lake at Wallace Creek Campground

Enid, MS

Since i hadn’t slept good the past few nights, i took a sleeping pill last night, I was in bed early and up early with the new time change.  I always dread the fall back time.  It makes the days short and the nights long.  In the winter time sometimes I'm in bed by 8.30 PM.  When it get’s dark .. I’m ready to put my PJ’s on and curl up in bed.  YES .. I prefer more daylight then i do darkness.

024

Wallace Creek Campground site # 18 at Enid Lake COE .. what a wonderful view we have.  It was a nippy morning here in Enid, MS.  The temp’s were in the mid 40’s.  But warmed up to the mid 60’s.

006

I kept waiting for the sun to come out, but it never did.  We wasn’t sure if we were staying another night or if we were going to pack up and head to warmer climate.  Neither of us felt that great and it was a blah day.  We sure was glad we chose yesterday as a travel day.  It was a perfect day for traveling.  We had no wind, not much traffic, sunshine and an extra hour of traveling time.  We decided around lunch time that we’d stay put another day.  We wasn’t sure if we’d stay beyond that due to the weather.  After having a sandwich for  lunch it had warmed up enough that we decided to venture out and check out our new surroundings.

036

First was to check out the boat dock and picnic area near our campground.  I do believe their swimming area is now a dry swimming hole.  Looks like the lake is dry like most places that are needing rain.

029

They have several and very nice pavilion shelters for gatherings.  This one even has a nice huge grill.

035

they have a nice fish cleaning station, it’s closed now for the winter season.

030

Next we headed to the visitor center to get some information on the place.

003

They have a nice place to sit and look at the emergency over fill area.  Their brochure says it’s only been used 4 times.

 001

We crossed onto the Dam Road, it’s very nice and scenic

007

here is the lake crossing the road.  It’s a very nice size lake.

009

This was absolutely breath taking to view on top.

 004

although i have to admit i was not to keen on the step turn to go down to see it.  When we turned to go down all i could see was a huge drop off and my head started spinning.

010

it was really neat and i love the sound of rushing water.  I could have stood here all day and listened to it.  That sure is a lot of rushing water coming through there.

 014

Even though it was a bit on the cool side several people were fishing.  Mid 60’s is cool to me.

015

We traveled on down and viewed some more of the stream.

016

hubby loves just looking off into the water.  When we are near water, we are in our own little world.  When I'm near water i am happy, water seems to relax me and takes all of life’s stresses away from me.  Water is good medicine for me weather I'm sick or just down in the dumps.

 017

This is definitely an “it” site for us.  We have a nice level concrete pad and our site is level which is good for me with walking, plenty of room to park the truck and our home, the dogs have lots of room to run and we have no close neighbors.  We’ve decided we would stay a couple more days.  We decided to pay up until Wednesday.  With my Golden Access discount it’s only $6 per night due to the winter season discount rates.  That means saving $3 bucks a night!  The dogs are loving it here.  This morning they were playing outside chasing each other, they love the room they have to play.

022

Here is the view out the back and right side of our home (recliners and table)

 027

here is the view out the left side of home (couch)

 028

It was getting late and we still needed to walk the dogs.  They so look forward to getting to sniff, explore and potty in a new place.  We walked the dogs around the campground and down by the lake.  We got home just in time as here came the rain.  Even though it’s getting cooler and the rain has arrived for a bit, we are nice and comfy inside of our home.

 041

Normally we have a clear view of the lake but with the rain it was foggy and a beautiful view.  It gave us that feeling that we were at the ocean watching a storm come across.  We definitely have enjoyed our day here today even though the temps are not our desired warmth.  It was still tolerable and even though a long sleeve (hubby) and a jacket (for me) was required.

It was time for dinner and since we are not near anything i cooked!  YESSSS .. i actually cooked dinner tonight.  I plan to start cooking a bit more as I need to lose a few more lbs before the wedding.  Dinner tonight was sausage patties and milk gravy with bread.  We hadn’t had that for some time so it hit the spot just right.

It’s going to be a night of snuggling up in bed reading a book until it’s lights out for me.  I’m starting to get on my winter schedule.
