Fall Colors

It was a beautiful day .. temps were wonderful.  I spent my morning cleaning under the bed and burning receipts and tax records that are no longer needed.  Ughh glad that job is done for a few years!

I wanted to get some pictures of the trees.  There are some beautiful colors here in the campground

Our home all nestled in .. this will be home for a few more weeks.  Although i have to admit i’m ready to roll.  But the to do list is not finished yet.

A Ruff Weekend

Well it was a ruff weekend for me.    I didn’t get much sleep Friday night. After the kids left i took a hot shower and curled up in bed to rest this aching back.   Saturday started off a bit on the warmer side but the wind blew and my aching back could feel the rain coming.  We needed to do a grocery run so we’d have some grub to eat.  We also went by the camper dealer and picked up some needed things for minor repairs. 

We got some heavy duty latches to install on our new frig so the door will stay closed while going down the road.

  

and some new refrigerator bars to hold things in place during travel.

 

a day/night shade repair kit, ours are beige but you can no longer get beige so I'm going to dye this string and then hubby will attempt to repair the broken shade.  We also purchased replacement bulbs and a an analog for our water heater. WoW $88 worth of stuff!!

Saturday night was spent in bed on heating pads.  The cold moved in and the rain wasn’t too far off.  It was another night of not sleeping and suffering with an aching back.  I shouldn’t of went shopping and stayed in bed but it was to the point of a must as there wasn’t much in our home to eat on.

I spent Sunday resting my back while hubby attempted to do some maintenance work .. well in between football games :)  Hubby got our analog installed in our water heater .. good thing as it was eaten up. The latches are going to need some fabrication work since our refrigerator doors don’t snug up against the wood work.  Glad I'm married to a fabricator :) 

Sunday evening i laid in bed resting the back and watched the movie RV.  I had seen it before but still enjoy watching it. 

Today (Monday) was a beautiful day as the temps warmed up in the low 70’s.  I limited myself at doing anything due to my back and legs being very tender.  I did clean out a couple of cabinets and did a couple loads of laundry.  Later tonite i went up and play 13 with some of the other RVer’s for a bit and then came home.  I shouldn’t have gone and sat in those chairs as my back is screaming at me. 

It’s one of the caught between a rock and hard spot .. do not do what i want to enjoy life or enjoy life and suffer with the pain later.  Looking like it will be another night of sleeping due to back pain.  Tomorrow is suppose to be 80 degrees and then the cold and rain are returning.

On a good note our youngest son and his fiancée called to let us know that they got the house they have been bidding on.  The bad news is their not suppose to close until Nov 15th we will be gone by then.  Hopefully they can get all the paper work done and move the closing date so that we can help with the moving.  I’m excited as their new home will have a place for us to park our rig .. YESSSS .. I'm finally going to have a kid i can mooch off of!!!

Fall is in the Air

We woke to a nippy morning and an early morning.  The grands arrived around 7.30 A.M. to spend the day with us.  We have been slowly easing our time away from them.  We’ve enjoyed spending lots of time with this summer but now it’s time to wean ourselves and them.

Fall is in the air and the trees have turned colors and the leaves are falling off.  It won’t be long and ole man winter will be here.

It warmed up fairly nicely this afternoon.  So i decided it was a good time to clean and organize underneath the outside compartment on my side.  I dug everything out and re-organized it.  While i was doing that hubby and the grands cleaned up the garden.

The campground is beginning to be bare.  3 friends pulled out yesterday.  One on their way to Louisana which we will meet up with them next month at a campground there.  Another is on their way to winter in Texas.  This is their camper, they have a park model they spend the winter in.

The other couple is headed to Arizona and we plan to re-connect when we get to AZ this winter.  Things are looking bare and are very quiet here.  Although i have to admit hubby enjoys a bit of time when no one is around and it’s peaceful.  He feels like he is back secluded living in the back woods again

  

The grands went home around 8 PM and we will not see them until next week.  My home is a wreck as it is when the grands leave but i’ve decided it will wait til another day.  I’m tired and am spending the evening computing and doing nothing but watching some tube.  It’s going to be a shower and time for bed before long.  This cool weather is not good on the back and my sleeping pattern is off big time.

Doctors update and the count down begins

Well i went to the doctor today and got a good report.  My heart valve is doing much better and so the plan is for me to stay on my medications and continue to do what I'm doing.  Best of all i got the green light to head south for the winter.  I still have to go see one more of my doctors the end of the month but it’s getting closer to time for us to be pulling out.  I’m so excited and ready to roll as i’ve had all this cool weather i can take.

We have a tentative pull out date of November 11th.  We still have several things to get done.  Our youngest son is waiting to hear if the offer he made on a home has been excepted and if so he plans to move in the end or first of the month.  We have some repairs to get done before we start on our next journey.  

31 days count down before our winter journey begins … I’m getting excited This is what our plans look like if we follow the plans.  We will be traveling around 5400 miles.  First we will leave Illinois and head to Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, California, Nebraska and Iowa before coming home in June for a wedding.  I’m sure we will add other states for some sight seeing as we travel through them.  Of course since everything we do is written in Jell-o it’s always subject to change at anytime. 

My new refrigerator has arrived

We got an email during RV Convention that our new refrigerator had arrived.  On Thursday the last day of convention we had the afternoon off as there wasn’t anything going on we wanted to attend.  So off to Springfield to get our refrigerator. 

On Saturday even though it was very cool hubby and our son Tyson installed it.  It’s huge compared to my old one.  See how empty it is?  One thing i was not happy about was it was suppose to have a flat front but it has a bit of rounded edge to it and so the plan to install my wooden panels from my old refrigerator is out.  I’m stuck with a black front.  Hubby still has to get the trim to go around it. 

 

I wasn’t sure i would like the can/bottle holders in the door but i have found i love them!

I have tons of freezer room and in fact i was able to take everything from our chest freezer and fit it into the refrigerator freeze for defrosting.

as you can see i do not have much in the chest freezer.  Of course that will change when we i have to start cooking meals again in a few weeks.  Right now we are having our meals at the dinning hall here at the campground so i have barely cooked all summer long :)

the dogs are not enjoying this cool spell we are having.  In fact Dolly loves to lay in front of the heater.

It’s been cool and chilly all weekend but we’ve enjoyed our family time and it’s coming to an end before long

2 weeks ago today

We woke to a very nippy and rainy morning.  Not a good day for me.  My back does not take this weather well.  Plus it doesn’t help that 2 weeks ago today i lost 2 of my beloved babies.  Tomorrow will be 6 months ago we lost Lucy.  I miss them everyday. Since we’ve had good friends here it has been easier in my grieving, but i have my days and this is one of them.

The plan for today was I going to spend my day in bed resting and recovering from the past week but a phone call spoiled that one.  I was needed to help get a mailing out here at the Park we in.  So i got dressed and stopped and said some good bye’s to some precious friends.  (I will be posting later about our convention this past week)  then it was off to work for a few hours.

I got a message today that Roo the dog I'm dog sitting for owner may have found a home.  I will be losing another beloved furry pet soon.  I have come to love this dog and she has been a great comfort for me.  We had planned to take her south and on our traveling journey this winter.  Looks like my heart will be breaking again soon.

Later i played 13 with some friends for a bit and then home to a hot hot shower and off to bed to see if this aching back would let up.

Convention has come to an end and in the morning lots of our friends will be pulling out to follow the paths of their next journey.  Some we may meet up with this winter and others we will not see for a year or more.  It’s been great fun and we enjoyed our time with great friends who are family to us.  RVers are the best!!
