A nippy day but a great surprise

Ajo, AZ

Last night when I went to bed, I could hear the wind really ripping.  I slept in this morning.  It was a windy, nippy and at times bone chilly day.

001

we had a great surprise.  Fellow blogger Michael that we met yesterday stopped by today to visit and brought little bit (my name for her)  she had a great time playing with the toys (although my babies were not so sure about that)  Smile  We enjoyed another wonderful visit.  We have plans to get together again.  Michael is going to go with us and show us around.  I am so looking forward to that.  We are so blessed with lifestyle we are living.  Getting to meet new people and making new friends is awesome.  Thanks Michael for making a cold nippy day into a fantastic day!

004

the dogs only got a small walk this afternoon as it was just too cold for me to be outside very long

005

the work on the roof is coming along ..

007

here is Dave ( a member of the church) working away .. it’s looking nice and I love the color

009

Andy and Vic were the get me guys for the guys on the roof.  It was a nippy day but a good day and after the sun went down it started getting even colder so I dug out my flannels again.  So glad were on full hookups and our heat is free this time around.  Our evening was spent curled up on the couch and relaxing.  My back is starting to hurt from the cold so it may be a ruff night for me.

meeting another blogger and a Gospel midget singer

Ajo, AZ
We got up this morning and slowly got around and ready for church.  We went to First Assembly of God here in Ajo.  It’s a nice small church and it was nice to sing some of the old songs we grew up with.  After church we were both in the mood for breakfast.  I made french toast for lunch.
001
We walked the dogs and when I got back I had a email from Michael that he would be at his rig around 3 ish.   So we got ready and went and meet him.  Michael took us up on the hill above him and what a view!  Look at these views!!
002003
It’s absolutely breath taking up there.
004005
Michael is an amazing artist .. he did the art work on his rig and several of the mural’s around town that I will be taking pictures of.  We saw several of them yesterday but with it raining we didn’t stop and take pictures.
006007
The wind was really blowing up there but we still posed for a picture.  Even lil sh*t (this is what her name is) wanted in the picture.  I remember when Michael posted about lil finding him when he was boondocking and instead of him adopting her, she adopted him and warmed herself right into his life.  She is a itty bitty little doll.  Who loves to give kisses.
009A
here is a couple of Michael’s sculptures .. absolutely amazing
010
Michael invited to some of the local festivals going on in the up coming week and we look forward to spending more time with him and making an even more bonding relationship.  It’s amazing the people that you meet and the relationships you build in our lifestyle.  I love it and if your ever near where we are please email me and let me know.  I’d love to meet up with any of you.  I always love meeting new people and making friends.
011
We came home and it was breakfast for dinner.  We both wanted sausage, gravy and biscuits for dinner so that is what was on the menu.  It’s been a breakfast day.  Before we knew it .. it was time to head over to the church for a concrete.  Lowell Mason who is a gospel singer and a midget.  http://www.lowellmason.com/

We brought rain to the desert

We heard the rain hitting our roof early this morning.  It seems we can either bring the cold or the rain anywhere we go and this year it’s the desert.  Although we are told they do not mind the rain Smile  I just don’t want Ole man winter to find me .. shhhh don’t tell him where I am at.

015

I knew the rain was coming as I had a ruff night sleeping from a screaming back and legs.   We were slow getting around this morning.  But hey that is the life of those who are retired .. right?

003

We had plans to do some site seeing but with the rain that changed our plans.  I still wanted to see around the town so we decided we take a drive and look around a bit.  The top picture is of the Museum but it was closed.  This wagon was outside of the Museum.

005

even on a dreary day the desert has a beauty to it .. see how low the clouds are ..

007009011

we drove up to where the old mine is but it was raining so we didn’t get out do much looking around.  We just did a bit of site seeing from inside the dry truck Smile

they have a beautiful little square .. look at this park around the circle square

026

we did stop and go into a book store as we thought the rain had let up .. oops it hadn’t and was raining when we came out.

030031

there is lots of beauty in the architect  here in Ajo

033

I am looking forward to a day when the sun is out and I can get out and walk around and get some good shots of the historical  buildings around here.

035036

We see lots of RV’s going through this area .. must be a winter haven for the snowbirds.

037

after we did a bit of driving we stopped at the Family Dollar store to browse and compare prices and then we headed to the only local grocery store around for miles.  Prices were a bit high but that is expected for an area there is nothing in.  The closest Wal-mart is 80 miles away!

041

I found the A for Ajo .. must be a popular thing here in the desert to carve the first letter of city in the mountain top.  Look how close the clouds are to it .. awesome huh?

043

I bet this cactus can tell you some history of this town .. I’m sure it’s very old.  I love cactus and love their different shapes.

I found an unexpected thing today.  I knew that Michael another blogger that I follow was in Ajo and I had hope to contact him and meet up.  Well I didn’t find him but I think I found wanderwolf (his rig) it was raining so I didn’t want to stop and see if he was around.  Going to save that for a day the sun is out.

025

We came home and my back and legs were screaming so we spent the rest of the day being lazy and just lounging around.  Temps are around 65 degrees with rain.  Dinner tonight was prepared by hubby.  Baked chicken and rice.

Mooch docking and the work has begun

I stayed up late last night and enjoyed watching TV.  I haven’t done that in over a month!  I was awake early this morning as I heard noise this morning.

013

The guys showed up this morning and the work has begun on the fellowship hall roof.  It’s going from white to red.

001

We are parked across the street from the AG church here in Ajo .. YES .. more Mooch docking!  We are on full hookups!  Yes, I can use all the water, electric I want and I do not have to worry about filling up our tanks and not being able to dump them!

006

it’s an older, small church … with a beautiful view of the mountain behind it.

007

I spent my morning cleaning .. Yuck!!  We have lots of dust and sand from being in the desert with the wind blowing.  The living room and kitchen was on the menu for today.  I did a load of laundry yesterday and I’m on my 3rd load today with several more loads to go.  YESSS I didn’t want to go back to fight the crowd at the laundry mat so I have tons of it.

010

the sign in their yard .. After cleaning this morning I was exhausted and over did it.  YEP .. got the back and legs screaming.  It was in the high 70’s today and so I finally am in my choice of attire.  Yep, T-shirt and short pants!

008

Here we are all nestled in .. another RV Mapper is here with us.  Brad and Judy.

012

I put my flowers outside and they are in need of some serious sunshine and warmth.  They look terrible this year.  Later in the afternoon I setup my lounger and spent my afternoon lounging and basking in the warmth while enjoying my book.

011

a neat looking house across the street from us and if I get a chance wait until you see what is in their carport!

014

Behind us is a nice fenced in yard and I plan to let the dogs run loose in their when there is no one here.  I’m sure they will enjoy this play pen.  But for now they are enjoying their walk we take them on.  Lots of new things and places to sniff and mark .. Oh how they love that.

Before I knew it, it was time to start dinner.  On the menu tonight was mostaccioli.  After dinner we walked over to the Dollar General and picked up a few groceries.  Junk things mostly, chips, candy bars, cereal, deodorant and shampoo.  Later I got my first long and hot shower and let me tell you I enjoyed it!  It felt good to let the hot water run over me while bathing.  The 2 things I have missed  during our boon docking stay was 1.  My long hot showers  and 2.  My washer and dryer.

It’s going to be an early to bed as I’m exhausted and my back and legs are screaming from over doing it today.  It’s been another warm, beautiful day here in AZ.  We did have a few sprinkles of rain here and there but that was it.  Night all!
