Destruction or building?

We’ve been having some chilly morning temps but once the sun comes out, it warms up.  Not to my preferred temperature but bearable.  Around 10 AM the volunteers take a coffee break and we all get together.

015

This is Snuffy, is he working or is the wall holding him up for a mid morning nap?  Hmmm i will let you decide that :)

009

The past few weeks have been destruction or demolition.  The ceiling and walls are almost torn out.

012

metal pilings are being installed in place of wood due to termites.

028

In the mornings it is a bit on the chilly side as you can see here lays the insulation.  It’s doing a good job keeping things warm?

016

I guess nap time is over? Or do you think he is just a busy man?

027

Of course you always have those that just simply do nothing but goof off …

022 A

and they would be Don and Tommy .. hmm looks like the dukes are being drawn ….

 023 A

just kidding they are both hard workers.   YESSS .. it always seems to be break time, lunch time or dinner time for RVolunteers :)

029

While the men are breaking the gals are cooking ..

025

Jean is working hard baking ..

026

WAIT …. I like my lovely face just the way it is!  Okay, Okay .. I'm gone ..

 031

Diane using the food processor to chop the pecans or is she eating them?  Hmmm

030

Jean’s making pie crust .. mmmm i have a feeling Pecan pie is for dinner tonight!!

Yes .. it seems it’s all we do as RVolunteers is eat .. but it’s such good food .. I even found some grass that i actually like .. they call them collards? I do not like the green mustard or turnip grass .. it’s nasty .. i also had broccoli cornbread and it’s amazingly good and you will not believe what it has in it.  broccoli, cottage cheese and I'm not sure what else.  When i first heard what was in it my nose crinkled but once i tasted it .. it’s good.

034

This is an amazing life, serving the Lord, making new friends and enjoying seeing old friends, eating too much and having wayyy too much fun.

 035

We are really enjoying our wonderful friends here Louisiana .. it’s hard to believe how fast time is flying bye.

Twin Lakes Campground

It was a ruff night for me .. back spasm and pain.  I slept in this morning.  It’s been a pretty chilly day.  YES .. you guessed it most of my day was spent on my friendly heating pad.

  007

I took these pictures the other day and forgot to post them so i thought i would today.  This is the lake across the road from the Campground.

 008

This is the other side of the lake it has like 2 fingers to it and this little guy lives here on the lake.  There is an old man next door who they call Mr. Camp and comes twice a day to feed the fellow.

005

this is the road coming from the campground going up to the Tabernacle and Dining hall.  This is the Assembly of God District campground for this part of Louisiana.

018

Ashbrook Hall is one of the dorm area’s where guest stay.

 013

they have these nice covered walk ways between the dorms.  Nice when it’s raining.

014

Here is the Tabernacle, very nice place for the kids to have worship services.

017

The dining hall where the kids enjoy lots of good food and fun.

 021

As you can see below the dinning hall is a pretty good size building.

037

051

They have a divider wall where they can shut part of the dinning hall off

052

Basket ball court

 027

 029

it has a slide!  Pretty neat, such a shame it’s too cold to use it .. i could have some fun in this!

 030

The Girls Dorm is in front of the Campground

The Boys dorm is on the other side of the dinning hall, so they are seperated

046

above the campground is a road and up there is trailers where guest can stay

  053 054

behind the campground is a motel, very nice and it has a washer/dryer for it’s guest

055

this trailer is hidden in the trees, very secluded and right now Pastor Kevin and his wife live in and they pastor an AG church in Alexandria.

 056

There is a side walk that starts at the Tabernacle and goes up past the dining hall, past the boys dorm, across the road past the basketball court, up around the pool, back down to the girls dorm and back to the Tabernacle.  The dogs and I have been enjoying walking around each day.  I also hook their leash to the golf cart and take them for a run around this side walk and they love that until they get tired and then they enjoy riding on the golf cart.  As you can see we are in a beautiful area, we are secluded yet within 2 miles we have access to a gas station, small grocery store, Dollar General and a Pharmacy and if you go 7 miles or so we have access to a nice size city that has anything you might need.  Like Best Buy, Big Lots, 2 Wal-marts, Bed, Bath & Beyond and many more stores, several nice grocery stores.

038

This afternoon friends Tommy and Diane came back from their holiday and it is great to have them back.  Welcome back friends.  I went to visit Diane and ended up staying longer then i thought and so dinner tonight was left over’s for hubby and a salad for me.  Later we went and played Chicken foot with Snuffy, Jean, Tommy and Diane and of course the women won!  Before we knew it was time to come home and relax a bit before calling it a night.  Hopefully tomorrow the sun will return and the temps will warm up as tonight again i’m having back spasm and pain and it’s going to be a night of sleeping on my friendly heating pads.

Getting Festive

We woke up to warm  temps but it wasn’t long and here came the rain.  It poured for a few minutes on 2 different times and then the sun came out and dried up all the rain.  It’s been very humid but warm.

003

I’ve been busy today.  First was to dust, vacuum and then scrub the kitchen floor.  Once i got my cleaning done it was time for lunch.

 005

After lunch i decided to get festive and get ready for the holiday.  Christmas was always my favorite holiday until my injury.

 007

I decorated the slide outs with garland, lights a bow and poinsettia's.  I got my table cover and table clothes out, decorated the window above the couch.

008

I spent my entire afternoon decorating the inside of our home.  It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in here :)

 009

Dinner tonight was finally the last of the turkey!  YES .. I'm glad to see it used up.  We had Turkey and Rice.

010

Yesterday Snuffy and Jean returned from visiting family and so we returned to playing cards at night.  It is nice to have them back.  We enjoyed our alone and quiet time but were ready to getting back to fellowship and spending time with friends.  Before we knew it was time to head home and relax a bit before heading to dream world.

Under the weather

I slept in again this morning.  In fact I have spent most of my day in bed.  I haven’t gotten dressed and I’m still in my jammies.  It’s been a very lazy day for me.  I am not feeling good and just plain exhausted.  My back and legs are hurting.  I feel like I've been run over by something.  If anyone suffers or knows anyone who suffers with MS you will know that we have what they call flare ups and this is one of my flare ups.  There are times when i need these lazy days and time to catch up on rest and sleep.  It seems to be one of those weekends.

The sun did come out today but it was still a bit too nippy for me.  Temps reached the low 60’s.  That is just too cold for me .. i can enjoy 70’s but low 80’s are my preferred temps.  These temps are more to hubby’s liking and so he spent some time outside.  He changed the oil in the truck and built me a bottom step.  One end of our camper is up pretty high (hitch part) and so getting my bad leg high enough for that bottom step is a bit much so my wonderful husband fixed that for me.  Thank you hubby.

This evening I spent some time relaxing in my recliner while making some changes to my blog.  I am trying to get festive for the up coming holiday.  I also spent some time on the phone talking to some friends.   Dinner was left over’s again tonight as were trying to get the frig cleaned out.

Black Friday

We slept in this morning.  I didn’t get up until after 9 AM.  I didn’t get my usual slow morning moving as we got dressed to head into Alexandria to do some Black Friday shopping.   Ughhh, it was crazy out there and when we arrived at Wal-mart it looked horrible.  People had left their trash everywhere.  There were empty soda and bear boxes all over, cans, bottles, paper, cups and what ever else they may of had.  It was disgusting.  Reminded me of trashy Miami.  We finally found a parking space and headed inside.  The inside was just as disgusting as the outside.  One man was eating from a box of food he had picked up inside the store.

Needless to say i didn’t find what i was after which was a waffle iron and electric griddle.  Oh well .. guess i didn’t need them after all.  We got what we needed on my list and hurried out.  Wall to wall people is just not my cup of tea, esp when people are so rude and obnoxious.  I can’t count the times that i was ran over by a cart and not one person said excuse me or sorry!

Next was Big Lots to return a rug i had purchased earlier and it was wall to wall people so we didn’t stay long.  We made a few other stops, hubby needed to get a oil filter as it’s that time already, we stopped to see if the grocery stores had any new sales, a few did and a few didn’t.  Mac’s had  chicken breast 77 cents a lb and so i purchased a family pack to break into small packages.  Ground chuck for $1.77, that was better then last week, glad i just got a small package then because I purchased a 10 lb package this time.  I love catching things on sale and putting them in freezer until later.  We are well stocked up now.  I was ready to head home.  We decided not to eat out today as we have lots of left over’s and i just wasn’t in the mood to fight anymore of the crowd.  I have to say the grocery stores sure were bare compared to the craziness we fought on Tuesday!

The sun just hasn’t come out to play today.  It’s a dreary looking day and looks as if it could snow, although it’s way to warm for snow.  Temp’s are near 70 but it just doesn’t look inviting out.  We did have a bit of drizzle of rain while we were shopping and then again tonight.  But nothing major.  A cold front is moving in and i can tell it. My back and legs have been screaming at me all day long.  I’m not sure if it’s a combination of the weather change and exhaustion setting in.  With my MS i get tired very easily and if i over do it hits me with like a ton of bricks.

Since I'm not feeling well my afternoon and evening was spent curled up watching TV and surfing the web. I even took a nap.  YES .. I have taken a nap the past couple of days and that means i’m exhausted or sick.  My wonderful husband has been doing a good job of taking care of me today.  Hubby did dinner tonight which was warmed up left over’s. I had sausage, gravy and biscuits while he had some left over Hobo stew and of course we had left over dessert.

Tonight we did some discussing at some future places we’d like to visit on our winter journey.  We have been playing with some dates as to when we will be heading out.  Our original plans was head farther south the day after Christmas but that may change do to a wrench that comes our way every so often.  We have a couple of RV Rally’s we’d like to attend in Quartzsite this winter and so we’ve penciled those into our plans.  I will let you know more later on that when we finalize our plans.
