 026
They had this huge neat tree, it’s called a Banyan Tree, it measures over 75 feet tall and is about 100 years old.  The tree’s roots descend from the branches and once on the ground will develop into another trunk.  Native to India many Banyan tree seedlings were imported to South Florida in the late 1800’s.  These trees can grow up to 100 feet in height and live approximately 1,000 years.

Bean Dinner

Miami, FL

I got up this morning and did my morning walk, then it was a lazy day.  The sun would come and go but i still enjoyed lounging outside reading a book.  Were in the living mode and not really much to blog about.

The RVers here decided on a Bean Dinner. Dinner tonight was bean soup, cornbread, cabbage slaw and pasta salad.  Desert was pumpkin crisp and strawberry pie. I’d never had pumpkin crisp and it was so good.  The pie was excellent too.  I was good and only had a small piece of the pumpkin crisp and a bite of the pie.

After dinner i did my nightly walk and then it was indoors to watch some tube and off to bed

Little Havana

Miami, FL

I got up this morning and walked.  After my morning walk i needed to do some cleaning.  Got some laundry going and before long it was after lunch and i hadn’t even had my shower.  I got a shower and got ready.  The gang here is all going out for dinner tonight.

We got ready and headed to Little Havana for a Cuban dinner.  We arrived at Little Havana restaurant and was seated as we had reservations.  Can you  believe i forgot my camera again?  Sorry, guess i need to move a pocket size camera to the top of my want list :)

Everything here is served with white rice and black beans.  I had the Little Havana steak.  My steak was good, it was like a cube steak and the white rice wasn’t bad for eating plain rice although i have to admit i prefer veggies and soy sauce with my rice.  I didn’t eat the black beans.  Hubby had the Chicken steak, he ate the rice and black beans.  He said his steak was dry.  Hubby and Ray decided to try the Cuban coffee, Ray didn’t like his and hubby enjoyed his and Ray’s too.

We had a great time and as always the fellowship was great.  Friends Dixie and Mark arrived today and they went with us.  I will get pictures of their rig later.  They are parked in front of us.  There are 8 couples here and everyone is getting along so well.  We’ve got a great bunch of volunteers.
After dinner a needed trip to Wal-mart and then i came home and walked again and then it was a shower, talked to my friend Wanda whom i was missing and having withdrawals from.  Then it was off to bed for me as i was exhausted.

Shopping day

Miami, FL

I got up early to get ready to roll by 9.30 AM.  Once again we had rain in the early morning and then it dried up, the sun came out and another beautiful warm day.  5 of us ladies loaded up in the van and headed out for our shopping day.  We went to Ross, DD’s, Trends, Good Will, Big Lots and American Thrift Store.  We had loads of fun shopping and i think everyone purchased something.  I got 2 new blouses and earrings.  They had some really good sales.  Lunch was Taco Bell.  I had the Nacho Taco Supreme.

The guys didn’t stay home and be lonely, they all loaded up and visited a local RV dealer.  We came back home and had our 3 O’clock get together and then around 4 PM we all parted and went our way to get some dinner.

I made some Bologna Salad for dinner and after dinner i took Lexi out for a walk.  She wouldn’t leave me alone as she didn’t get her walk in yesterday.

The rest of the evening was spent doing nothing and resting from a long day.  Tomorrow friends Mark and Dixie are suppose to be arriving.  That will make 8 couples here.

A Lazy Day

Miami, FL

We woke up to the sound of rain hitting the roof of our home.
001
Oh my it’s really coming down in buckets.
002
After the rain left the sun came out and dried up all the rain.  I spent my afternoon lounging outside enjoying the warmth of the sunshine.
005
We are nestled in and right now we do not have anyone in front of us.
 007
We have other RVers around us.  At 10 AM and 3 PM everyday it’s gtg time for coffee and refreshments.
008
Later in the afternoon we walked around the corner to a discount bread store and purchased some goodies.  Dinner tonight was mostacholli and bread rolls we purchased.  The evening was spent just relaxing and watching TV.  I’m also working on getting caught back on my laundry.

Super bowl Sunday!

Miami, FL

We got up early today.  We are attending Trinity Church today.  Trinity church is located in Miami, Fl.  It’s an inner city church.  We were asked to attend the 9 AM Church service.  Yikes that is early.  I managed to get ready and we all gathered outside of the church.  We were seated in our reserved seats.  Wow this is one huge church.  They have 4000 members.  They have a Saturday night and 3 Sunday services.  The song service was awesome and today’s message was on SEX!  Yes, you read that correctly.  I’ve never been to a service on this topic but i have to admit it was good and in good taste.  Apparently their having a series all month long on Sex.  Today was on the top 10 reason being married is a good for a man.

After services i came home and took a quick rest before the super bowl party started.   The RVers had a potluck super bowl party.  Once half time arrived we headed home as i was tired. Yes, i did see the ending of the game.  Way to go Giants!  Although i have to admit i was rooting for the Patriots.

Flea Market Day

Miami, FL

We got around this morning and around 9.30 AM we headed out with friends Donnie, Dee, Les and Jan to a flea market.  We spent time walking around.  After we finished that Donnie needed to go by Home Depot and then it was close to time for lunch.  We went to Dynasty Buffet which is a Chinese.  We had a great lunch and spent time visiting.

After lunch we came home and a needed trip to Wal-mart to restock groceries for the week.  Ughhh $80!  Then we came home and took the dogs for a walk and spent the rest of the evening just relaxing.
