working in the pantry

This morning we had devotional and i was selected to be the speaker. It’s out of my comfort zone but i made it through it. We had a wonderful devotion and our group has now dwindled down to 1 table.

After lunch we met at the pantry to put away food donations. We worked all afternoon.

My evening was spent on the couch resting a aching back

Carports coming along

Wow, it's the 1st day of March! We've almost been here a month! Time has flown bye. The carports are coming along. The storage area for both are enclosed in.

The shelving and cork board still needs to be hung as well as the doors. You can one of the doors that needs to be hung in the top picture.

Boarding for the bottom of the rafters needs to be hung to enclose the ceiling in and siding has to be hung yet on them. Lots of work still ahead and only a month left to go.

I caught Al when he wasn’t looking. He is hard to get picture of

100_4814

The job supervisor Rudy. I caught him on the ladder as well.

What you know i did stick around long enough to catch Dean working!! Hey Mary .. look he does know how to use a broom.

Windy Monday

Wow, we had a bit of a wind storm with heavy rain around 1.30 am. My home shook and shook and the sound of the heavy rain hitting the roof made the dogs a bit nervous.

Once the storm passed we all went back to sleep. We woke up to cooler temps and the wind blew most of the day. The temps did reach up to 60 but it still felt cool to me.

I spent my morning just relaxing. I did do a few chores and my afternoon was spent visiting with a good friend Dorothy who stopped by to chat. We had tea and wonderful fellowship.

I spent the evening watching TV and just relaxing.

Another wonderful Sunday

Another wonderful service at church and then it was on to lunch at my favorite place. Yep Chinese!! Then a dreaded trip to Wal-mart. Wow $112! Ughhh … More and more i get to where i dread going there. Prices of diesel, food and everything is on the rise yet my income stays the same?

Arrived home in time to put away the few things i got for that much money. Shampoo, conditioner, laundry soap, food items and so on.

Then it was time for Chapel service and it was nice. Visited a bit afterwards, then it was back home to finally rest for the day.

A Sad Day, Yet A Day of Friendships

100_4803

The carports are coming along nicely. As you can see .. yes 2 dedicated workers on their day off.

I got up this morning and said good bye to several of the RVer’s. Benny and Carol were the first to leave. We are both sad to see them go. They are an amazing couple and the guys hit it off and so did we ladies. We have really been blessed to have made such wonderful friendships this year. See how lonely it is behind us?

100_4808

Bud and Pam finally got the wiring fixed on their rig and around 11 am they pulled out. They were the last to leave. It was hard saying good bye to another couple that are very special to us. Another lonely place with their motor home gone.

100_4807

The rest of my day was spent visiting here and there with the other rver’s.

We were invited to dinner at Audrey's who is a worker here at the home. She invited Rudy, Elaine, Andrew, Bill and Pauline as well. Ms Audrey is an amazing cook and we had a delicious Mexican meal. It was so good and wonderful fellowship.

100_4806

It’s been a nice day, no sunshine but the temps have been good. See my door is open again today!!

100_4805

This AJ, Ms. Audrey’s puppy. He was waiting to greet us. He is such a cutie.

Later on it was more fellowship and finally around 8.30 pm we got home. It’s been a sad day saying good bye to blessed friends we love, yet a great day in enjoying the fellowship of others we love.

Hope you all had a blessed day

Appreciation lunch

Today was an appreciation lunch for the volunteers. Several are leaving tomorrow. We went to Sam’s and it was so delicious and their black berry cobbler was amazing. Lots of great fellowship.

Pleasant Hills Children`s Home 009

Harry and Martha do a tremendous job in running the home. It’s amazing all they do. If they were to leave it would take 4 qualified people to do the job that these 2 do together. They are a wonderful blessing to hundreds.

100_4796

Jeb and Vanessa, Jeb is the maintenance supervisor and he is such an awesome person. His heart is in this home. His wife Vanessa is such a loving person. Jeb is a blessing to the home.

Pleasant Hills Children`s Home 008

Paul and Annetta are volunteers year round and have been at the home for 6 1/2 years. What a dedication. They are such dear friends of ours and their both amazing witnesses for our Lord and Savior. The home is blessed to have such dedicated volunteers. We are honored to call them family.

Here is the gang as we gathered for a group picture before our lunch.

Loading back up on the bus after our lunch.

This is Mrs. Mary and her birthday is this weekend and Carol (Benny’s better half) got her a gift. Mrs. Mary is a wonderful cook and she runs the kitchen. God gives her so much strength to feed and clean up after all she does at the home. She is a wonderful blessing to the home and a very dedicated worker. I have never seen this lady without a smile and she is always in a cheerful mood.

Pleasant Hills Children`s Home 013

I love these 2 pictures. The guys being dedicated by helping Mrs. Mary in the kitchen. Who would imagine that 2 welders would work together at this job as well.

Pleasant Hills Children`s Home 014

Of course as you can see they needed a supervisor and Dorothy did as good as she could keeping these 2 in line. As you can see Benny is just as much of a ummm .. maybe i better not say it. I will just say Benny and Lenny were 2 of kind and Benny will be missed so much!!

Tonight was game night and it was a wonderful night for fellowship. Although i had a bit of guilt as i had prayed for Bud and Pam not to leave until in the morning. They decided to get on the road after our lunch and broke down at the entrance. They had some type of wiring problem with their toad. They ended up coming back and they made it to game night after all. I was happy they did but i felt so bad they had trouble.

It was a wonderful day and tomorrow is going to be such a sad time when dear friends leave to go home.
