Last day of the Year

Gulf Breeze, FL

011
The day started off slow as it was foggy and a bit on the chilly side.  Even though temps were in the low 60’s without the sun it felt a bit cool.  I had forgotten to put our chairs away last night and they were very wet this morning from the dew and humidity this morning so there was no sitting outside.

013 014
Today Lexi just got her morning walk around the campground and it wasn’t until almost noon as the damp weather is not good on me.  Once the sun came out we decided to take a walk down the boardwalk to the beach.
 015
someone made a Christmas tree out of wild bird seed.
016
The water is getting closer

I really enjoy spending time on the beach and just listening to the waves

Hubby parked me in my lawn chair and he took a walk along the beach.  We both were enjoying feeling the sand between our toes.
019030
all of sudden it started getting foggy and we were not sure if it was fog or rain so we headed back home, the temps were dropping too.
032 033 034
I seen this wildflower on walk back home, there is a little bit of greenery but mostly just dead brush

035 036 037
we were parked at the store, the store always has a laundry mat in the back of it.
  041 042039
Were parked in Loop C-8
 043
here is the over flow parking where we have to park our truck as our site isn’t big enough for our home and the truck.
044 045 046 047
it wasn’t long and the fog found our campsite too .. we had planned to go into Pensacola to the eat out and go to the Pelican drop but since the fog moved in we decided it was best to stay home.  Plus i wasn’t feeling the best as the moister gets the best of my aching back.
 003a
Lucy was enjoying her daddy time … well until i woke her up by taking her picture
 009a
we ended up with a quiet dinner in our home and we took a evening stroll around the park, no stars tonight as the fog was heavy.  Hope you all have a safe Happy New Year’s Eve.

More Sightseeing

I got up early today and went outside and spent a few hours sitting outside doing my daily devotions.  It was a beautiful morning.  Temps were wonderful so of course that meant a trip to the beach!

This guy was the only one out of all those fishing who was catching anything.  I believe this picture of a pompano is what his fish was?

002    006

The waves today were breath taking and huge!

011  013   016

There was several people enjoying the beach .. a father with his kids, kite flyers, fishermen.

019 020  022

024a

Of course then there was old women who like to sit on the beach, listen to the waves and read a romance novel .. oh yeah that is me .. snicker

 029

Lexi was rearing to go for her daily walk so we loaded up in the truck and headed to the bay.  Ooops that isn’t the bay .. actually we took her to a new area of the bay.

039

Fort Pickens is between the bay and the Gulf as they had several forts inside a fort to protect the Gulf and the bay.

We hadn’t walked out onto the fisher pier so we decided today would be a great day to do that.

Things were swimming around in the water

057 058  061 062 063 064 065

oh yeah and riding around in the water

059066 067 068 075 070

I just couldn’t resist getting my feet in the water.  It was cold at first but in not time it felt great .. Lexi didn’t think so when she rubbed against a dead jelly fish and so she got threw in to get the sand and hopefully smell washed off.

 072  074

Then i just had to make foot prints in the sand

 080 081 082 083 084   087

they had a museum in one of the buildings here but it really wasn’t much.  We thought it would give us some history of what the buildings were all around but it didn’t.  We assume they may have been barracks?

 089 090   093

Then it was time to head back home .. on our way we passed a small cemetery so we went back to check it out.

These grave stones were originally at Chasefield Plantation which is now the Navel Air Station and so they were moved here.  Chasefield Plantation was the home Major William chase who supervised the construction of Fort Pickens.

It’s been another great day and it’s hard to believe that we are on our 5th day here!  Time has flown by and only 1 more day left in the year of 2011.

Lunch was left overs and dinner was oats .. the campground is pretty close to full as it looks like several have come in to enjoy a holiday weekend.  The spot in front of us is still empty, but the sites all around are filled up now.
