A Blah Day

It’s a blah day .. we decided to do nothing but just lazy around.  When it’s cloudy out i become lazy and that is what today is with the sun hiding behind the clouds most of the day.  We decided today wasn’t a good day to travel so we paid up for another day, it looks as though tomorrow will be moving day.

I woke up around 7 AM!  It’s official my body is on it’s winter schedule. It wasn’t long after i was up the electric went off.  The camp host stopped by to tell us it wasn’t our camper the entire camp ground is without electric.  I decided it would be a good time to get some straightening up done and last night’s dinner dishes.

The sun tries to come out and then the clouds covers it up, the wind is blowing and to me it’s a bit on the nippy side.  We decided since were without power we’d take the dogs on a long walk.  We headed over to walk around one of the closed part of the park.  This is a beautiful park and i can imagine families having a blast here in the summer months.  It was lunch time when we returned and still no power.  It wasn’t long after lunch that the power came back on.  So i got our dirty laundry going.  Plus using the washer will put more water in our black tank to help with emptying tomorrow :)

After lunch we decided to take the dogs on a drive and we drove across the dam to Persimmon Hill campground.  They have a very nice paved walk trail around the wooded area.  The dogs love their walks and it was a beautiful walk about.  Unfortunately i forgot my camera :(  Would have been some great photo shots.  During our walk the wind picked up and the leaves were falling around us off the tree.  A reminder that winter is approaching and it’s time to move on to warmer climate.

Everyone was wore out after our walk and so we came home to take a nice little nap.  After dinner we took the dogs on one last walk about and then got things to ready to roll in the morning.  After i got my work done of cleaning up the dinner dishes,  putting up a few things and securing  a few cabinets.  The rest of the evening is being spent relaxing curled up in bed reading a good book.  YEP .. I’m on winter time zone.

We’ve enjoyed our time here at Wallace Creek and we hope to come back when it’s warmer!  If all goes well we should be in Alexandria, LA tomorrow night.  We will be there around 6 –7 weeks depending on the project.  On Monday we will be off of R & R and to work being servants for Jesus Christ.

Election Day, Enid, MS

We woke to a bit of a another nippy morning but it wasn’t long the sun came out and warmed up nicely.  I’m so thrilled that this day has arrived.  It’s Election day and i will be so glad that my phone ringing all the time to ask me questions about voting will be done with, filling my mail box with their political junk and especially my face book page being flooded with all the political garbage, It will soon be over with .. YESSSS  We voted a few weeks ago before we left Illinois.

001

This is the view out our window this morning.  What a ruff way to wake up enjoy a cup of tea (me) and coffee (for hubby)  We got up and got our morning started with our usual surfing the net and catching up on the morning news.  Then we headed to take the dogs on a morning walk around the camp ground.

 004

While we were outside enjoying the basking in the sun.  The camp host came over to welcome us.  We had nice visit and she even gave me a gift.  She makes wind chimes out of wine bottles.  The park is very well taken care of here.  The bathrooms are almost spot less and they are even heated.

018

I took this picture of our grill .. i love the concrete tables next to them.  How neat is that!  You have a table to use while cooking.  We are really impressed with this campground and we plan on returning again.  I could get into cooking outside with this setup.

 007

After lunch we talked about visiting the fish hatchery a few miles down the road and then we talked ourselves out of it and instead loaded the dogs up in the truck and took them to the dam to walk around where we visited yesterday.  It’s a beautiful place to walk and no one around.  The dogs absolutely loved it.  They loved sniffing and peeing all over their new surroundings.  When they got home they were exhausted.  Roo just couldn’t take it anymore she had to have a nap.

010

Since the sun was still shining and it was warm enough to be outside with just long sleeves We sat outside and enjoyed some more basking in the sun while reading.  I just had to take a picture of my view when i looked up.

005

If you look out our window at our dining table this is what you see. The camp sites are very spacious here.

008

This is what it looks like on our back side looking out the kitchen window.  We sat outside until the sun went down and then it was time for …

009

Hubby’s to start dinner.  It’s his turn to cook tonight as I cooked last night.  I was nice to him and thawed out some pork steaks i had frozen already cooked and He chose to fry potatoes and use up the left over gravy we had.  It was a tasty dinner.  By the time dinner was done it was dark outside we took the dogs on a nice evening stroll.  It’s a beautiful night not too hot and not too cold, it was a perfect night for a evening stroll and it would have been a perfect night for a fire if we had fire wood.

011

Needless to say when we got back the dogs were definitely ready for bed.

 016

I’m not far behind them, it’s going to be a nice hot shower and off to bed to read a bit and see if i can stay awake long enough to see who will be President.

Enid Lake at Wallace Creek Campground

Enid, MS

Since i hadn’t slept good the past few nights, i took a sleeping pill last night, I was in bed early and up early with the new time change.  I always dread the fall back time.  It makes the days short and the nights long.  In the winter time sometimes I'm in bed by 8.30 PM.  When it get’s dark .. I’m ready to put my PJ’s on and curl up in bed.  YES .. I prefer more daylight then i do darkness.

024

Wallace Creek Campground site # 18 at Enid Lake COE .. what a wonderful view we have.  It was a nippy morning here in Enid, MS.  The temp’s were in the mid 40’s.  But warmed up to the mid 60’s.

006

I kept waiting for the sun to come out, but it never did.  We wasn’t sure if we were staying another night or if we were going to pack up and head to warmer climate.  Neither of us felt that great and it was a blah day.  We sure was glad we chose yesterday as a travel day.  It was a perfect day for traveling.  We had no wind, not much traffic, sunshine and an extra hour of traveling time.  We decided around lunch time that we’d stay put another day.  We wasn’t sure if we’d stay beyond that due to the weather.  After having a sandwich for  lunch it had warmed up enough that we decided to venture out and check out our new surroundings.

036

First was to check out the boat dock and picnic area near our campground.  I do believe their swimming area is now a dry swimming hole.  Looks like the lake is dry like most places that are needing rain.

029

They have several and very nice pavilion shelters for gatherings.  This one even has a nice huge grill.

035

they have a nice fish cleaning station, it’s closed now for the winter season.

030

Next we headed to the visitor center to get some information on the place.

003

They have a nice place to sit and look at the emergency over fill area.  Their brochure says it’s only been used 4 times.

 001

We crossed onto the Dam Road, it’s very nice and scenic

007

here is the lake crossing the road.  It’s a very nice size lake.

009

This was absolutely breath taking to view on top.

 004

although i have to admit i was not to keen on the step turn to go down to see it.  When we turned to go down all i could see was a huge drop off and my head started spinning.

010

it was really neat and i love the sound of rushing water.  I could have stood here all day and listened to it.  That sure is a lot of rushing water coming through there.

 014

Even though it was a bit on the cool side several people were fishing.  Mid 60’s is cool to me.

015

We traveled on down and viewed some more of the stream.

016

hubby loves just looking off into the water.  When we are near water, we are in our own little world.  When I'm near water i am happy, water seems to relax me and takes all of life’s stresses away from me.  Water is good medicine for me weather I'm sick or just down in the dumps.

 017

This is definitely an “it” site for us.  We have a nice level concrete pad and our site is level which is good for me with walking, plenty of room to park the truck and our home, the dogs have lots of room to run and we have no close neighbors.  We’ve decided we would stay a couple more days.  We decided to pay up until Wednesday.  With my Golden Access discount it’s only $6 per night due to the winter season discount rates.  That means saving $3 bucks a night!  The dogs are loving it here.  This morning they were playing outside chasing each other, they love the room they have to play.

022

Here is the view out the back and right side of our home (recliners and table)

 027

here is the view out the left side of home (couch)

 028

It was getting late and we still needed to walk the dogs.  They so look forward to getting to sniff, explore and potty in a new place.  We walked the dogs around the campground and down by the lake.  We got home just in time as here came the rain.  Even though it’s getting cooler and the rain has arrived for a bit, we are nice and comfy inside of our home.

 041

Normally we have a clear view of the lake but with the rain it was foggy and a beautiful view.  It gave us that feeling that we were at the ocean watching a storm come across.  We definitely have enjoyed our day here today even though the temps are not our desired warmth.  It was still tolerable and even though a long sleeve (hubby) and a jacket (for me) was required.

It was time for dinner and since we are not near anything i cooked!  YESSSS .. i actually cooked dinner tonight.  I plan to start cooking a bit more as I need to lose a few more lbs before the wedding.  Dinner tonight was sausage patties and milk gravy with bread.  We hadn’t had that for some time so it hit the spot just right.

It’s going to be a night of snuggling up in bed reading a book until it’s lights out for me.  I’m starting to get on my winter schedule.

Moving Day has finally Arrived!

It’s finally here!!  It’s moving day.  Dolly knew what was going on this morning.  I put her out to potty and she headed to truck and wanted in :)  She wasn’t happy when we brought her back inside but it’s really cold out there and the truck has to warm up. There was frost this morning!  Lexi is excited and Roo isn’t sure what is going on.

002

We had a nice surprise our oldest son spent the night.  Wasn’t that sweet.  He is going to miss his mommy and daddy.  After we got our son to leave this morning (love u babe:) we got thing busy and it was going to be the first time we pulled the slides in with our new refrigerator.  I knew it was going to be a very tight fit with it and our freezer.  I was happy when it fit and trust me there is no room to spare.  I draped a rug over the freezer to keep the freezer and refrigerator from rubbing the paint off one another.  Hubby braved the cold and had us hooked to the truck and unplugged from electric and we were on the road at 7.54 AM New time.  Did you remember to set your clocks back?

003

Roo resting her head on the door as she was looking out the window .. She is a good rider, she just has to learn when we stop she has to be put on her leash before she can get out.  She thinks she can dart out without being on a leash.

 004

Dolly snuggled up in her cover .. all nice and comfy for a long day.

005

Lexi waiting for her chance to escape to the front seat.

009

We will be in Missouri soon

  011

Welcome to Missouri, state #2

 018

Ughh welcome to AR state # 3, as always the road is so ruff and bouncing your pictures are blurred

 019 020

This cotton field in AR hasn’t been harvested yet .. looks like snow

021

Welcome to Tennessee state # 4

 028

Were in Mississippi but i missed the welcome sign (sorry)  the ABS light came on truck about the same time and hubby was beginning to panic.  We pulled over and couldn’t find anything so we stopped at the first rest area in MS and when we started the truck back up and started on down the road it went off and all seemed well.  We did not have but about 26 miles to go so we decided to try it.

 030

We are currently at the Wallace Campground in Enid COE Park, look at my back yard!  We arrived a little after 5 PM and just before dust and found the site we wanted and got set up just in time before the sun went completely down.  We got the last unreserved water front site.  I am looking forward to spending a few days here.

One More Day!

Carlinville, IL

Wow, what a day it has been.  I didn’t sleep good and was up very early.  In fact to me it was still the middle of the night to be awake.  Weather changes affect me just like the cold and hot.  Temps were dropping and the wind was blowing and it was a dreary morning.  It looked as if it could or would rain at any time.  Since i couldn’t sleep and resting didn’t stop the pain i decided to go ahead and get started on what i had to do.  I started getting things that needed to be done today down stairs on the go.  I put the grand kids toys away in their winter storage area (behind the couch).  Cleaned off the counters.  Did some surfing on the internet.

Hubby was up early and once it warmed up a bit we got dressed and headed to town to finish some things.  Another trip to Wal-mart my printer is out of ink, med’s filled, dog chain (Lexi broke hers), eggs hubby’s prairie farms dip .. WOW ..  what was a few things ended up being $70 bucks!  Ughhh  i wanted to check the mail one more time hoping what i was expecting would arrive, YESSS it was there .. so glad it came before we left.  Then we needed to fill up the truck with diesel.  Back home and we worked some more on getting those last minute things done.  I straightened the frig so things will hopefully ride good, put the bars in that i purchased to hold things in place.  Visited with friends and said see ya all next summer :)

I was looking at my receipt and noticed i had been charged for 3 inks, YIKES, i called Wal-mart and they told me to bring my receipt back in for credit.  So that meant back to town and got my refund  I only got 1 ink so a refund of $28 bucks was due .. YESSS i will take that.  I thought my bill was awfully high for 2 little bags.  Back home we put the awning in, everything outside other then the water, sewer, electric and satellite are done.  Now that everything is done it was time to get my shower so hubby can do the water and sewer and get his job finished.  All hubby has left in the morning is the electric, satellite cords and hook up to the truck. I have to put the coffee pot, dogs dishes and what ever dishes we use away in the morning.

Tyson showed up and loaded the trailer and his truck down with all the stuff that goes to storage.  We sure do have lots of stuff here when were here visiting the kids.  Gabe and Kelsey showed up. We had a good visit with our kids and even though we will miss them while were gone .. I am so ready to get out of this COLD!!

We plan to be up early and off to an early start tomorrow.  The plan is to travel 425 miles tomorrow.  Since I've had 2 very long days and not much sleep, i’m going to retire to bed and watch the Christmas shows on the Hallmark channel!!

A Busy Day

We got up early and got an early start to our day.  First on the list was to head to LWCC and turn in my radio, keys and golf cart.  My job as camp host is officially over.  Next on our list was to stop and check our mail (I’m expecting a package) no luck it didn’t come in today :(  Next we had Dr. Appointments at 10 AM.  We arrived got our check up and flu shots and the green light to head out for the winter :)  thanks Doc!  Then we needed to go by Dollar General and get some envelopes for my sister to forward my mail in and of course we had to visit a bit with her :)  We left my sister’s house and on to the bank to get some money and do several other items :)  Off to hubby’s mom’s house to visit with her one last time of the year.  That is right we will not see any of our family until next year.  She feed us a nice late lunch and we had a great visit and before we knew it , that time that we dread approached.  We gave hugs, I Love You’s and was on our way to pick up the grand kids.

We got the grand kids and by then it was time for dinner so of course they wanted their favorite, Yep you guessed it right McD’s!  Finally we got home and spent the evening enjoying our grand’s one last time this year.  Their dad showed up around 10.30 PM to pick them up and we said our good byes, hugs and kisses.  We were exhausted and had a very busy day with lots packed into one day.  It wasn’t long i was ready to head to bed.  Ughh i woke up with a charlie horse and that started my ruff night.  I couldn’t get back to sleep until around 2 AM and i was back awake around 5 AM.  My legs and back were killing me so finally i gave up and got up.  I had some things that i needed to do anyway.  Might as well get started on them now.

Hope your all having a better night then i am .. 1 more day and it’s lift off!  I’m so excited!

1st of November!

WOW .. it’s the 1st of November already.  Where has this year gone?  We only have 2 more months before it will be a new year.  This year seems to have flown by faster then normal.  I slept in this morning and once i finally got up and to moving i got some laundry going.  I want to get everything washed up before heading out.  We will be in a COE park and so no sewer means no laundry.  Other then my basic morning of checking the blogs i follow and checking face book i did nothing :))

  008

After lunch the dogs had an appointment with the doggie doctor.  Lexi was due to get her shots and Roo needed hers as well since we are not really sure she has had them.  Hubby was concerned as we had never really taken Roo for a car ride and with our lifestyle being able to ride is a must!

011

Lexi was first to get weighed .. WOW she is up to 25 lbs!  The last time she was at the Dr’s office she weighed 18 lbs.  Lexi doesn’t like going to the Dr, she has white coat syndrome.  She gets nervous, pants and sheds her like crazy.  She even growled at the doctor when he gave the needed shot.  Lexi got a new piece of Jewelry to sport. Of course her other jewelry looks horrible as she bites at them all the time.  Lexi is sporting a new necklace her old one she has out grown (snicker)  She used to have a pick one now she has a new green one.

   015

Next was Roo turn and she did great.  She didn’t even seem to notice she got a shot.  Roo had to have 2 shots.  She also received a Micro chip today.  Now if she is to get lost she can be found.  Roo now has more jewelry on her necklace.  Both the girls look pretty good sporting their new necklace and jewelry.  Lexi has a micro chip as well.  She got one about 3 yrs ago.  Although Lexi chewed up her plastic tag and it had to be replaced with a metal one :(

  012

Both the girls enjoyed their ride and Roo did wonderful riding and I believe she will do great traveling with us.  She loves looking out the window and seems to enjoy her big high back seat.  I think they were excited to be back home and have their Dr’s appointment behind them.  Esp their treat they got for being good girls .. well Roo was but Lexi still got a treat :)

027

On our way home we stopped by Wal-mart and picked up a few things i forgot the other day and of course we had to get candy for the grand kids :)) The girls still had energy and Roo was waiting patiently for her opportunity to steal a new toy that got today.  They love things that squeak!

006

We came home and Jim and Wanda had a nice camp fire going se we sat and visited with them and before we knew it was time for dinner.  We all went to the dinning hall for dinner and visited with friends Sharon, Georgia, Sally and Myron.  It will probably be our last time enjoying a meal together this year.  We sat and visited after our meal and before we knew it .. time had flown by and the dinning hall was closing.  We said our good byes, hugs and departed.  We came home and i snapped a picture of home after sunset.  As you can see we have everything packed away except what the kids have to take and put in storage.

001

We went for a sunset stroll and then came back and finished enjoying the fire that Jim and Wanda had going in their fire pit.  Of course they had already went home but we still enjoyed the last of fire.  (Thanks Jim for the wonderful fire) Once the fire was done we retired inside as it was getting late.  It’s been a beautiful day and an even more beautiful evening.  It’s a clear sky and the stars are shining bright, it’s quiet here in the campground and we are the only ones here.  2 more days and our winter journey begins!
