Doctors update and the count down begins

Well i went to the doctor today and got a good report.  My heart valve is doing much better and so the plan is for me to stay on my medications and continue to do what I'm doing.  Best of all i got the green light to head south for the winter.  I still have to go see one more of my doctors the end of the month but it’s getting closer to time for us to be pulling out.  I’m so excited and ready to roll as i’ve had all this cool weather i can take.

We have a tentative pull out date of November 11th.  We still have several things to get done.  Our youngest son is waiting to hear if the offer he made on a home has been excepted and if so he plans to move in the end or first of the month.  We have some repairs to get done before we start on our next journey.  

31 days count down before our winter journey begins … I’m getting excited This is what our plans look like if we follow the plans.  We will be traveling around 5400 miles.  First we will leave Illinois and head to Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, California, Nebraska and Iowa before coming home in June for a wedding.  I’m sure we will add other states for some sight seeing as we travel through them.  Of course since everything we do is written in Jell-o it’s always subject to change at anytime. 

My new refrigerator has arrived

We got an email during RV Convention that our new refrigerator had arrived.  On Thursday the last day of convention we had the afternoon off as there wasn’t anything going on we wanted to attend.  So off to Springfield to get our refrigerator. 

On Saturday even though it was very cool hubby and our son Tyson installed it.  It’s huge compared to my old one.  See how empty it is?  One thing i was not happy about was it was suppose to have a flat front but it has a bit of rounded edge to it and so the plan to install my wooden panels from my old refrigerator is out.  I’m stuck with a black front.  Hubby still has to get the trim to go around it. 

 

I wasn’t sure i would like the can/bottle holders in the door but i have found i love them!

I have tons of freezer room and in fact i was able to take everything from our chest freezer and fit it into the refrigerator freeze for defrosting.

as you can see i do not have much in the chest freezer.  Of course that will change when we i have to start cooking meals again in a few weeks.  Right now we are having our meals at the dinning hall here at the campground so i have barely cooked all summer long :)

It’s been cool and chilly all weekend but we’ve enjoyed our family time and it’s coming to an end before long

2 weeks ago today

We woke to a very nippy and rainy morning.  Not a good day for me.  My back does not take this weather well.  Plus it doesn’t help that 2 weeks ago today i lost 2 of my beloved babies.  Tomorrow will be 6 months ago we lost Lucy.  I miss them everyday. Since we’ve had good friends here it has been easier in my grieving, but i have my days and this is one of them.

The plan for today was I going to spend my day in bed resting and recovering from the past week but a phone call spoiled that one.  I was needed to help get a mailing out here at the Park we in.  So i got dressed and stopped and said some good bye’s to some precious friends.  (I will be posting later about our convention this past week)  then it was off to work for a few hours.

I got a message today that Roo the dog I'm dog sitting for owner may have found a home.  I will be losing another beloved furry pet soon.  I have come to love this dog and she has been a great comfort for me.  We had planned to take her south and on our traveling journey this winter.  Looks like my heart will be breaking again soon.

Later i played 13 with some friends for a bit and then home to a hot hot shower and off to bed to see if this aching back would let up.

Convention has come to an end and in the morning lots of our friends will be pulling out to follow the paths of their next journey.  Some we may meet up with this winter and others we will not see for a year or more.  It’s been great fun and we enjoyed our time with great friends who are family to us.  RVers are the best!!

Passing of our beloved Duke and Dixie

Duke would of been 19 Christmas day and Dixie would of been 18 Oct 9th.  A week ago yesterday when we turned Duke out to go potty before he took off and was gone all night long.  We walked and looked for him for hours and finally around 2.30 AM we gave it up.  That morning around 7.30 AM i got a call he had been found and i went and got him. 

Duke hasn’t been the same he has been very sick and eating less and less.  The past couple of days he had continued to get weaker and weaker and yesterday i made the decision to call the vet and have him put down.  Well i didn’t have to make that decision as he passed away around 4.15 AM this morning. 

Dixie has not been feeling well and has had vomiting and lose stools this past week.  Yesterday i started noticing blood in her stools.  She is showing the same signs that Lucy did so we have made the decision to go ahead and put her down. We buried Lucy, Duke and Dixie together today in their final rest place.

They all 3 loved the RVing life style.  They were so excited when they knew we were packing up to move to new territory.  When we arrived they were always so happy to get out and explore. 

Once the hurt goes away we plan to make an memorial where we have laid them to rest.  Right now our hearts are breaking for our loss.

May you all rest in peace and know that you will missed, never forgotten and always be loved.  You all blessed our lives so richly with the love you gave to all who knew you. 

Fall Festival

We got up this morning and took the grand kids to the fall festival.   I enjoyed looking at the crafts while, hubby, Tyson and the kids went to look at the old tractors, corn shucking and the petting zoo.

Later that afternoon we took the kids to the park and before we knew it .. it was time to say good bye to the grands and we spent our evening sitting around a campfire with friends.

Today we went to church and when we got home the smell from our refrigerator was horrible .. it had to go out now .. i had to make some changes to the hole it left as we have to order our new frig.  I call this my redneck fix .. :))  We’ve decided on putting a electric house refrigerator in.  Now we have to make the decision between an Frigidaire or a whirlpool.  Once we decide and order .. it will take up to 4 weeks to get in .. ughhh i’m making due with this little one and having it inside will be nicer as the mornings are a bit chilly and having to go outside every time you want something from the frig is a royal pain.

What a wind storm

Hubby woke me up around 8.30 AM and told me to head to the bath house as a bad storm with high winds was heading our way.  I didn’t take time to dress .. just threw on my house coat, grabbed my phone, computer and purse and out the door to the bath house i went.

We were lucky as our awning survived with no damage .. hubby had it secured down pretty good.  Wanda’s carport did not survive as well.

Our neighbor lost this tree and thankfully it fell away from their camper and no damage to it .. just their sewer line
