spending the day with friends

It’s been 3 weeks ago today that we lost our beloved LuLu.  We are still missing her very much and life is just not the same without her here with us.  We have such a huge hole in heart that still hurts very much.

Got up and picked up a bit and around 10 AM friends Pete and Linda showed up.  Had a great day spending it with Linda.  Our time is coming to an end and it’s hard to believe our week is almost up.

We decided to have dinner at their favorite Chinese place and it was delicious and i pigged out big time .. oops there went my eating healthy.  Oh well it was worth it.   After dinner we said our good byes as we were all exhausted.  We came home and just relaxed.

Tomorrow will be spent packing up to head out on Thursday.

 013

Dinner tonight was taco salad and it was very yummy .. i know it’s not that healthy but every once in awhile you have to splurge and eat something good.  Actually hubby has been wanting this for some time.

 016

Later in the evening i went and feed the animals some carrots and they loved them.  The rest of the evening was spent relaxing and recouping from too much work today.

Relaxing Sunday

Leesburg, FL

We went to church this morning and enjoyed a nice Cowboy service.  After service they were having a fund raiser.  Smoked Chicken, macaroni salad, baked beans and a roll for $5.  We met Pete’s son and his family today.  We enjoyed our meal and visiting with friends.  Later on they all went home and we came inside to just rest.

I spent the rest of the afternoon laying in bed watching the Hallmark channel.  I haven’t done that for some time.  It felt good to just relax.  Nothing really exciting going on today.  Well until after dark.  Hubby went to open the door to let the dogs out and a swarm of skeeters invaded our home.  I bet there were hundreds of them that got in before he could shut the door.  Luckily i had some flying insect spray and i quickly found it and we started spraying.  We had disabled skeeters everywhere.  We had to get the vacuum out and suck them up as they would gain their bearings and start flying again.  After we got the most of them cleaned off the counters, and off the floor we had to use the fly swatter to get the rest of them.  These pest were everywhere it was unreal.  In a matter of a few seconds our home was invaded by hundreds.  It took a couple of hours to get them all out.  We even had to strip our bed and shake our covers out as they were in them.  Needless to say we didn’t put the dogs outside to potty last night.  I put puppy pads down for them use.

It wasn’t long after that we called it a night.  I think I'm ready leave Florida and i know hubby is.  He says he’s had enough of Florida. Hubby didn’t care for Florida the first year we visited and now losing his best friend in Florida he really has a bad taste for Florida.  We will be pulling out on Thursday and heading toward Georgia.

Ocala National Forest and The Villages

Leesburg, FL

001

Got up this morning and slowly got around.  First on the list today was go explore Ocala National Forest. I was looking for Big Scrub campground.  We found Big Bass and it’s a small campground with no hookups.  Several were there camping.  We started up the road to go farther to find Big Scrub but the road was horrible.  It was so washed board that the truck kept trying to turn side ways.  We went about 3 miles and it was all i could stand.  We turned around and headed back to a paved road.  We did see a sad site on our way out.  A poor dog who was so thin and had a big scrap on his back side.  We stopped and tried to get the dog to come to us but he was too afraid.  He ran from us.  We tried to give him a granola bar it’s all we had in the truck to eat.  Nothing doing he wouldn’t come to us.  We left the bar and drove down the road and watched him.  After he/she was sure we were not coming back the dog went for the bar we left.  We felt horrible leaving the dog but he wouldn’t come to us.  I made a phone call to alert authorities that there was a lost or stray dog in need in the area.

002

After we left Ocala we wanted to see what was the best way for us to leave out with our home.  US 42 is closed down near us so we need to find an alt route out.  After we did our trial run we head to town to get some needed supplies.  First on the list was some Freon for the truck AC!  It was not putting out any cool air today and i am not good at being hot.  Hubby had checked out the AC once we got here and he was pretty sure it just low.

003

On our way we passed the Village

 004

After getting  the Freon kit $ 30 that we needed for the truck AC i wanted to stop at Dollar Tree and Aldies.  I picked up a few more things i was running low on .. Ouch $40 at Aldies and $16 at the Dollar Tree.  I get so furious when i have to grocery shop.  The prices are just horrible and doesn't appear to be getting any better but only worse.   I don’t know if i had mentioned it but I’m trying to get hubby and I to eating more healthier since we both struggle with high blood pressure,  Heart disease and Diabetes both run in our families.  We are reaching that age in life where we need to get started now.    I hear people say how in the US obesity is at a high well i can tell you why.  Trying to eat healthy is expensive, i know just for the two of us it has almost doubled our cost of eating.  I can’t imagine trying to feed a family these days.   We filled up with diesel $4.15 a gallon…$60  so $145 poorer we head back home.

 005

After relaxing a bit when we got home it was time to start dinner.  I bought some fresh cabbage and frozen stir fry veggies.  Added some shrimp and cooked rice and dinner was served.  We took our nightly walk and enjoyed being outside enjoy the cool evening.  You have to be inside once dark arrives as the skeeters will carry you off.  Another wonderful day.
