Travel Day .. 4 States in 1 Day!

I am up early finishing up last minute things .. were hoping to be on the road by 7 am! Until next time ...

We rolled out at exactly 7.01 am .. pretty good huh? What a day it’s been 691 miles! We started out at the bottom of Mississippi, went all the way through and then … 002

We finally saw we were getting closer to Tennessee! Sorry i couldn’t get a better picture but as we were approaching the sign the road got pretty bouncy! Grrrr .. oh well as you can see we entered another state ..003

We was not in Tennessee very long when we approached the bridge

004

Then came state # 3 .. Arkansas .. we drove and drove …

005

and finally state #4! Were getting closer 006

We finally arrived at the ranch around 5.30 pm .. yes, we got setup and several friends we have missed terribly over the winter stopped by to see our new place and visit. Then we went to some other friends place and visited until 10 pm! It feels so good to relax although it will only last a bit as were on another road trip tomorrow .. Hope you all have a great weekend .. until next time ..

Happy Anniversary Sis & our last day in Mississippi

I want to wish my sister Patty a Happy Anniversary! Hope your day is a great one!

We got up early today and got moving. We had many things we wanted to get done since this is our last day here in Mississippi. First of all we stopped by Wal-mart and picked up a few things, then we went across the street to Dick’s Sporting Goods. Hubby browsed through the fishing department and of course we couldn’t leave without purchasing something. A few lures and a new pole!

After our shopping trip, we headed to Hard Rock Casino for our lunch date with Steve. After an Okay lunch for $3.99 per person. We said our goodbye’s and departed. We decided to stop along a fishing pier and check out the fishing. There wasn’t much action as the wind was blowing really strong and the fisherman said it wasn’t a good day. We did chat with a gentleman who was catching blue crab. He wasn’t doing bad.

We then stopped by Save A lot and then head back home. Lots to get done to be able to roll tomorrow.

We did our laundry, cleaned up our messy home, vacuumed and put things away.

It’s been a long day and I'm exhausted and we hope to get an early start tomorrow as it’s going to be a long day of driving.

Until next time ya’ll behave now ….

Bay Saint Louis Mississippi

Today we are going to site see along Hwy 90 the other direction. Our friend Steve came to our place and then we headed out. Here we are near Pass Christian, MS. I was surprised that Long Beach nor Pass Christian haven’t really started building things back up like they have in Gulfport and Biloxi. Makes one wonder what’s up. I have to admit i am so disappointed how Gulfport has took out most of the pull over places to get out and see the beach. They have put in side walks and took out most of the pull over sites. That was one of the things that pulled me to Gulfport was the fact that they had many places to pull off and enjoy the beach. Hmmm

045

We are having lunch at the Silver Slipper and i have to agree with this sign. The last time i ate there it was very good. 046

Bay Saint Louis new bridge, here we are getting ready to get on it. It’s pretty long and neat to go over.

051

041

As you can see the traffic is picking up we must be getting closer. 042

Here is the sign telling you where to turn for Hollywood Casino. 043

Same as last time we went to the Silver Slipper we took the wrong road. My computer program gave the wrong directions and this time Tom Tom got us lost. Well luckily we remembered the same thing happening and we finally found it.

We had a great lunch and I have to definitely agree with them being the best buffet on the coast when it comes to casino food. We got home around 3.30 pm and i took a nap!

Around 5.30 pm we decided to go take a walk along the beach and it was a great evening to do it until it began to get dark and the skeeters decided to come out. Time to head back to our comfy home where no skeeters are .. we had another great day but i’m exhausted from all the walking ..

Gulf Island Seashore

I failed to write about the chip in our windshield. On the way from Corpus Christi we heard a noise and sure enough we had a chip in our windshield. I called the insurance and Safelite Auto Glass came to our campsite and fixed it. Here is the chip and the beast waiting patiently to be fixed today.

005 008

The beast sits on an empty lot across the street from us because the lot they gave us at cots isn’t quite big enough. Having to lower the front of our camper to get level the truck can not be backed under the hitch part. We had to park side ways and was putting a rutt in the grass so the owner gave us permission to park across the street.

009

Here is our home, we have a nice grassy lot behind us and i love that! This is a much better spot then we were on when we spent 10 months here. We actually can not hear the interstate traffic, our new home is nicely insulated and it’s wonderful!

010

We actually had an afternoon appointment but Pam the lady who was coming was in the area and called to see if she could come on over and i said yessssssssss. She arrived around 10 am and was done in no time. Sorry no pictures as both my batteries are dead .. grrrr

013

Before i got the appointment to get the window fixed we had planned to head to Gulf Islands National Seashore in Ocean Springs. Since we got the work done early we still decided to do that. We stopped along the way and bought batteries for my camera .. yeppie!!

014 015 016

The last time we were here there were trees down and in very bad shape, lots of Katrina victims living in the campground and just didn’t feel like a safe place to be…

017

018 019

044

This time around it was very nice, all the down trees and trash has been cleaned up, no signs of permant residents or pitt bull or rotty dogs as before. In fact the campground had some nice campers in it. I took a couple pictures but they didn't turn out very good .. sorry

022

The last time here we could barely get past the cross walk and we never actually got to walk around the loop because trees were down. Look at it now!!

020 021

They even have a nice seat built to rest along your journey. It’s about a 1/2 mile walk around. Remember the alligator i saw here 2 yrs ago? Well this is the spot but sorry to say no signs of him now .. i was disappointed.

023

The last time we were here this visitor cent was not finished and closed off, you had to go to 2 trailers they had temporary set up .. wow this sure is a very nice visitor center

024

026

The fishing pier was closed the last time we were here, lots of the boards were missing and they were working on it. Wow .. look at it now …

027 028 029 030

031

The Pascagoula bridge we crossed to get here you can see from the pier .. see the bridge in the pictures below?

033 034

Here we are getting ready to get back on the bridge in the above pictures ..

036 037 038

Here is what is left of the old bridge Katrina took out ..

039 040

We stopped and had brunch at Treasure Bay, normally they have a great buffet but we were disappointed today for their price. Seems the prices have gone up on most of the buffets around here. Then a trip to Wal-mart to get dog food and toilet tissue and the rest of the evening was spent home just relaxing .

I have posted the link to my old blog when i was here visiting in 2007 . Hope your all having a great week, we are, it’s going by fast!

Happy Mother’s Day!

mdt1

I want to wish all the mother’s out there a Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you all have a great day. We are meeting friends and going to lunch and who knows from there.

Hubby finally got up at 10 am! He is moving a bit on the slow side today. Once we got moving we went to see our friends Jimbo and Becca new place. It’s very nice, much bigger then their last place. After some visiting we headed to Chinese Buffet on 49, it’s a wonderful place to eat and their food is so good!

We had a wonderful lunch and it was nice to catch up. We got to talking and realized that we spent mother’s day together last year as well .. hmmm a annual event in the works?

After leaving the restraunt we headed to our place to show them our new home. We spent the entire afternoon and evening visiting. It’s amazing how fast the day went! Finally around 7 pm we took them home as Jimbo has to work tomorrow. We plan to see them again before we leave.

After getting home i took Lexi for a walk around the campground and i seen my ex-neighbor Diane and we visited and she came to see our new place. Unfortunately her hubby Bill wasn’t home but thankful he is well enough to go back to work, so that is good.

I had a great Mother’s Day and it was so good seeing friends again. My youngest son called to wish me a Happy Mother’s Day and My oldest son and his wife sent it over FB .. I love new technology!

Happy B'day Rosie! Site seeing and Shopping!

Today is my sister Rosie's b'day .. no i'm not going to post her age all over the web .. I wanted to wish her a great day and hope her b'day is great one! Love you sis

We got up and got around and we wanted to take a drive out to Big Biloxi Campground which is located in the De Soto National Forest. We have stayed there a couple times and truly enjoyed it.

001 002

We were shocked to see the place not looking like it normally does! Normally this campground is well kept, you don’t find limbs, tall grass or anything. Today was not the case. Not sure what is going on but there was no camphost here? Normally there is a very hard worker from Nebraska there for the winter and he keeps the place spotless. Not sure if something has happened or what as no one knew what was going on. There were several tent campers and a few trailers enjoying the weekend. 003 005 006

004

We at least got to see the magnolia tree in bloom. The fragrance is wonderful. We stopped to use the restrooms before being on our way and i was shocked, although i did notice there were several older children in the campground. I’m assuming that was the reason.

011

We decided to do some shopping, and hubby and i both got new things. I got a new lawn chair. I have been wanting one like this as the fold up ones from Wal-mart are hard to get out of at times.

010

Hubby got a electric fryer. It’s pretty good size and he plans to start using this for frying fish in. His old propane one stopped working last fall and so he decided to go this route this time around.

We stopped at Food Giant on our way home and they had chicken strips and patties 5 lbs for $7.90 so we bought 1 of each and hubby tried out his new fryer .. wow it’s nice! Both the strips and patties were excellent, so after lunch we decided to go back and get another pack of each to take with us!

After lunch and shopping i needed a nap from my late night. I took a nap and then had to get up and get ready for my steak dinner and night of dancing! Our friend Steve is a member of the local Moose club and so we are going with him to the Moose!

We had a great meal, the steak was great and the meal was worth $12 per person! The band was not my cup of tea, but we still enjoyed some close slow dancing. The band played mostly 70’s songs of course the crowd they had loved it since that is the music they grew up with in their youth! We had a great time and finally around 11.30 pm we called it a night and dropped Steve off at his place and went back home. It wasn’t long before i was in bed.
