Looking back on 2012

Happy New Year from Sterlington, Louisiana!

It was raining when I went to bed and it was raining when I woke up .. I was up early and got myself going after taking some pain pills to get my back from screaming and so I could be ready to go.  Tommy and Diane picked me up a little after 8 am.  Tommy dropped Diane and I off at their daughter Buffy’s beauty shop and we ladies headed to the mall. Dillard's has a big sale going on!!

Buffy, Diane and I

Here the 3 of us are standing outside in the rain with lots of other people waiting for them to open up.  Buffy and Diane found several nice buys and I purchased a ceramic knife for 4 bucks!  (I tried it and love it) after shopping the guys came and picked us up at the mall and we headed to Diane’s dad and step mom’s home in Mangham, La.  We had a great visit and we had the traditional New Year’s Day meal of Black eyed peas and ham, cornbread, cabbage, and some wonderful deer sausage.

Lee and I hit it off and we had a great time visiting.  Made me miss my work of working with the elderly.  It was starting to get dark and it was time to head home.  On the way home I got this picture sent to me from my son.

Our grandson Toby was sled riding and the sled flipped over and he flew into a culvert and sliced his head open.  Of course grandma was worried and relieved to find out it’s just a flesh wound and a few staples were all that was needed.  After grandma talked on the phone she was able to relax and the rest of the evening is being spent relaxing in the warmth of our home as it’s on the nippy side outside.

Looking back on the 2012 ..  We traveled 4330 miles in the year of 2012.

2012

It’s been roller coaster ride ..

Jan/Feb were wonderful months of enjoying great weather, friends and enjoying life.

March was a ruff month as we lost our beloved Lucy and my sister

April/May and June continued with a spiral of down hill with our son’s personal problems, the loss of my dad and step-dad

July/Aug we both struggled with health issues

Sept we lost 2 more beloved pets

Oct finally started our upward journey to life settling down

Nov we hit the road for our winter journey

Dec we enjoyed a wonderful month with wonderful friends.

The top highlights of our year I’d say were the wonderful warm temps in Florida and spending the time we did with our family and friends.  We started out traveling more and it was wonderful and then with illness and death we stopped  traveling and dealt with the issues we needed to.  Looking back at dad’s illness and death we both have good memories that we were given time with family members and that itself was  a huge blessing to us.  My family is not perfect but they are good hearted people and I thank God for everyone of them.

Hubby and I were laying in bed and discussing our year and even though we’ve suffered several losses, it could have been a much worse year then it was.  We are thankful for the blessing’s we received and we embrace the tragedy’s we were dealt. God has richly blessed our lives and as long we have him as our pilot in life we can endure all the roller coaster rides that life has to offer.  I thank you Jesus for all that suffered to give me eternal life.
