Looking at new homes

Today was another day of working inside getting things packed up and ready to roll.  It’s amazing how much stuff you get out when you stay more then a week or so in one place.

I also had to do a bit of my volunteer job here as camphost.  I had to check in a few campers, get menu’s for the weekend delivered.

My parts came in for my washer and hubby got it put back together and it worked great on the first load.  But .. the second load only made it to the rinse spin cycle before the welds broke.  Grrr i am so furious with that thing!  I love it and really miss not having it and my laundry is piling up and needs done.  So tomorrow hubby is going to have to find another way to fix it because we can not order a new housing for it.  Splendid is suppose to be the best brand on the market but why don’t they make new housing parts for their washer/dryer units?

In the afternoon Cora and I ran to Litchfield to look at the new park models they have in.  Here is the Retreat made by Keystone.  The width on these are 8’ 6” which is 6” wider then a normal 5th wheel without the slide out.  They are very spacious and roomy.

The living room has a sliding glass door which i thought was neat. The one on the lot had the recliner and table reversed.
Retreat 2
If you were using this for like a weekend get away and leaving the unit stationary it would be great.  But …. for living in it for long periods of time I wasn’t impressed with them as they have hardly no storage inside.  The closet is very small (about the size my husband has in our unit) and the dresser had like 6 small drawers.  It had 3 very narrow cabinets over the bed.  The only outside storage is under the bed.  My opinion as for living in it for several months at a time in this unit is not a good option.

I also looked at the new Alpine’s that have replaced the Everest.  I wasn’t impressed with their Cherry wood and unfortunately that is the only thing they come in, i even asked if you could order the lighter wood and they said no.

I did love this kitchen floor plan.  You can get to the refrigerator when the slides are in and it had the 4 doors.  There is a down fall to this kitchen floor plan and that is where the stove and sink is.  It’s much more narrow then ours and only one person can be in it at a time.

I wasn’t crazy about the entertainment center in the side.  We really enjoy ours in the back of the rig.

I fell in love with the new bedroom wardrobe.  It has a cedar lining and a walk in closet.  the double doors is for the stackable washer/dryer.  I love the wood doors and they have metal latches and the plastic ones that break.  Although i have to admit there is less walk room between the bed and the dresser then our unit.

I have to admit that i still prefer my Everest over the new Alpine’s because of many factors.  Our living room, kitchen and bedroom are more spacious then the Alpine.  I love my maple wood, I wasn’t crazy about the head board.

After seeing the Alpine i have decided what i would like the best is If could have the larger refrigerator and the bedroom wardrobe in my Everest i would be so happy.  I did enjoy looking with Cora but … I have decided that I’m still very happy with my home and no plans to change it in the future.

I have been looking at quilt patterns online and going through some books trying to find a pattern as i need to make a new quilt for our bed.  Ours we use is very old and I have repaired it for the last time.  There is just nothing left to repair, the material is so see through.
